Rensuke Kunigami, also known as Kunigami Rensuke (國くに神がみ 練れん介すけ Kunigami Rensuke), is a participant in the Blue Lock competition and currently plays as a forward for Bastard München in Germany. He possesses a fiery and passionate demeanor, driven by the ambition to become the world’s top striker and a football superhero. Upon his arrival at Blue Lock, he joined Team Z during the First Selection phase. Despite being eliminated from the main route of Blue Lock during the final games of the Second Selection, Kunigami chose to explore an intriguing opportunity by entering a mysterious “Wild Card” door within the facility.

After the end of the U-20 match, Kunigami made his return from the enigmatic “Wild Card” door and reunited with the other contenders to participate in the Neo Egoist League.

Rensuke: The name Rensuke (練れん介すけ) is composed of the kanji “練” (ren), meaning “training” or “practice,” and “介” (suke), which is a common suffix in male names. The combination can be interpreted as “training” or “practicing,” suggesting a diligent and disciplined individual.

Kunigami: The surname Kunigami (國くに神がみ) consists of the kanji “國” (kuni), meaning “country” or “nation,” and “神” (gami), which translates to “god” or “deity.” Together, the name may imply a divine or sacred connection to one’s homeland or country.

Kunigami is a tall, fair-skinned high schooler with striking auburn eyes and vibrant, spiky orange hair styled in an undercut. His physique is notably muscular and broad-shouldered. At Blue Lock, he sports the standard-issued black body suit with gray stripes and tracksuit. During the First Selection phase, he was seen in Team Z’s blue #9 jersey along with their gray-capped cleats. In the subsequent Second Selection, he donned Team Red’s #50 jersey. Upon being chosen as a regular player for Bastard München during the Neo Egoist League, he adopted their #50 club uniform. Post the U-20 match, Kunigami’s appearance has evolved with his hair growing out more, a noticeable increase in muscle mass, and an overall gloomier and serious demeanor.

Personality:

Kunigami has a very moral personality. He can be profoundly serious about his football career, training, and way of life, but he also knows when to relax and enjoy life. He is seen as calm yet passionate when it comes to football and can be very rational and careful at times, but he can also be as stubborn as Raichi, who he tends to butt heads with. Kunigami will not let troublemakers and people who play unfairly get their way when he is around; he almost comes off as a big brother. Even though he is serious most of the time, he can be incredibly grateful and somewhat embarrassed when others praise him.

Kunigami’s encounter with Ryusei Shido changed his play-style. He became more aggressive and instinctual, leaving Blue Lock and questioning Shido’s teachings. After his return, Kunigami appeared colder and more focused, prioritizing scoring goals above everything else. His colleagues described him as resembling a cyborg due to his serious and expressionless nature. Despite his rude and disrespectful behavior towards teammates and rivals, Kunigami refused to compromise his principles. For example, he declined to teach Isagi how to use ambidexterity against Kaiser, as it would have compromised his integrity.

His finesse shots are characterized by their controlled power and precise placement, making them difficult for goalkeepers to stop.
